What does OOHWAH mean?  Great question!

Oohwah is a sweet endearing nickname given to our teacher Rhea by a boy named Rocket.  When Rocket was a baby he made a lot of sounds oohs and ahhs, high notes and very low notes and he loved vocalizing and using his voice to make beautiful melodies.  In music class Rocket heard sounds and imitated them with his voice.  He loved music and even though he was very little he had a connection with sounds and singing!  When Rocket heard music he would start moving his little body to the rhythm and use his voice to make sounds!  When Miss Rhea would sing notes to him he would repeat them and sing back!  One day Rocket looked at Miss Rhea lovingly and said the magical words that would make her heart melt “Oohwah”.  Although Rocket was still a baby and didn't know all his words yet and couldn't say Rheeeaaaaa he knew how to make sounds and those sounds became Rhea’s favorite nickname!

Oohwah Kids was born out of Rhea’s love of children, music, teaching and early childhood music education.  Oohwah Kids provides a creative space for children to have musical experiences that they will take with them for the rest of their lives.
